Full-process quality inspection ensures the last line of defense for the safety of glass bottle packaging

March 13th, 2026

Establishing a complete full-process quality control system is the core means for glass bottle manufacturers to ensure the last line of defense for packaging safety. From the raw materials entering the factory to the finished products leaving the factory, each layer of inspection and every step of monitoring can guarantee the consistency and safety of the products. At the raw material stage, in addition to the quality reports from suppliers, manufacturers need to conduct sampling tests on each batch of raw materials to verify whether the components and purity meet national standards. Unqualified raw materials are directly removed to eliminate quality risks from the source.

Online inspection during the production process is particularly important. It is necessary to detect in real time the diameter of the bottle neck, the thickness of the bottle wall, the dimensional accuracy and other indicators of the glass bottle. Through equipment such as calipers and dimension measuring instruments, the details can be controlled. Deviations in the forming process can be detected in time and the process can be adjusted to avoid the production of a batch of substandard products. At the same time, it is necessary to check whether the bottle body has defects such as cracks, bubbles, and stones. Fatal defects such as penetrating cracks and stones with a diameter greater than 0.5mm should be directly judged as unqualified.

The performance test of finished products before leaving the factory is the final verification of packaging safety. It is necessary to complete all tests including heat resistance, pressure resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and sealing performance in accordance with national standards. Food glass bottles need to pass the thermal shock resistance test with a temperature difference of 60, and medicine bottles need to withstand a temperature difference of 80without damage. The sealing performance is tested by negative pressure or positive pressure methods to ensure that there is no leakage after the bottle cap fits the bottle mouth. The migration amounts of heavy metals were strictly detected, with lead 0.01mg/L and cadmium 0.005mg/L, in compliance with safety standards such as GB 19778-2018. Only when all the inspection items are qualified can the glass bottles leave the factory, making the full-process quality inspection a solid barrier for packaging safety.
