A comprehensive solution for long-distance storage and transportation protection of fragile glass bottles

A comprehensive solution for long-distance storage and transportation protection of fragile glass bottles

June 5th, 2026

With the nationwide distribution of alcoholic beverages and drinks becoming the norm, long-distance cross-regional transportation has become a standard feature in the industry. However, glass bottles are typically fragile items, and improper jolting, bumps, and stacking can easily lead to breakage and loss. A scientific and comprehensive storage, transportation, and packaging solution is the key to controlling the cost of damage.

During the factory packaging process, regular glass manufacturers have established a standardized packaging procedure: each bottle is first wrapped with foam cotton and used soft paper to separate the bottle body from the bottle neck, preventing direct collisions between the bottle bodies. Then, the repackaged glass bottles are placed in custom-made partition boxes. The positions of the bottles are fixed with partitions to prevent them from shaking inside the boxes during transportation. After the entire box is repackaged, high-strength corrugated cartons or solid wood outer boxes are used for secondary packaging. When multiple layers of goods are stacked, hard partitions are installed in the middle of the box to distribute the load-bearing pressure and prevent the lower box from deforming under pressure and squeezing the wine bottles.

The entire box of goods is uniformly stacked on standard pallets and fully wrapped and fixed with high-strength stretch plastic film. Protective guardrails and fastening ropes are used to lock the entire pallet of goods. This not only prevents the box from tilting and shifting during loading and unloading and long-distance truck jolts, but also blocks rainwater and moist air from eroding the outer packaging, achieving dual protection for storage and transportation.

For long-distance sea and land transportation orders, the manufacturer can also upgrade the packaging configuration according to customer needs, adding thickened cushioning linings and thickened cartons to adapt to complex road conditions and multi-link transfer. In addition, the storage environment should be kept dry and well-ventilated. Goods should be placed in batches and zones, and the stacking height should be strictly controlled. The principle of "light on top and heavy at the bottom" should be followed to reduce the risk of hidden damage caused by the storage environment.

This mature protection system has been verified through years of market application. It can keep the breakage rate of glass bottles during long-distance transportation at an extremely low level, helping wine and beverage manufacturers reduce product loss, save on after-sales compensation and replenishment costs, and improve the operational efficiency of the supply chain.
