Comprehensive quality inspection of finished glass bottles

Comprehensive quality inspection of finished glass bottles

January 16th, 2026

Finished product quality inspection is the last crucial checkpoint for glass bottle manufacturers to ensure product quality. Through comprehensive and meticulous testing of finished products, substandard products can be detected and eliminated in a timely manner, ensuring that the glass bottles entering the market meet quality standards.

Appearance quality inspection is a fundamental step in the quality inspection of finished products. Inspectors will conduct visual inspections of glass bottles under a D65 standard light source with an illuminance of no less than 1000lx, focusing on checking for surface defects such as bubbles, stones, cracks, and raised seam lines. For instance, bubbles with a diameter exceeding 0.8mm and cracks longer than 3mm will all be judged as substandard products. At the same time, the dimensional deviations of the glass bottles will also be inspected, including the outer diameter of the bottle mouth, the deviation of the vertical axis, the roundness of the bottle body and other indicators, to ensure that they meet the design requirements. For example, the tolerance of the outer diameter of the bottle mouth needs to be controlled within ±0.5mm.

Physical property testing is a key means to measure the durability of glass bottles. This test covers multiple indicators such as bursting strength, wear resistance and heat resistance. In the bursting strength test, the water pressure increment test will be conducted in accordance with the GB/T 4546 standard, and the internal pressure strength of the glass bottle is required to be no less than 0.8MPa. The impact resistance test adopts the pendulum impact method to ensure that the impact strength of the glass bottle reaches above 0.6J. The heat resistance test is conducted through a thermal shock temperature difference test to examine the stability of glass bottles in environments with sudden temperature changes. Qualified products must be able to withstand a thermal shock temperature difference of no less than 42.

Chemical composition analysis focuses on the safety and stability of glass materials. The manufacturer will use professional equipment such as atomic absorption spectrometers to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of the main elements in the glass, and at the same time detect the migration amount of heavy metals to ensure that it meets relevant safety standards, such as the leaching amount of lead and cadmium needs to be less than 0.1ppm. In addition, chemical stability tests such as water resistance, acid resistance and alkali resistance will be conducted to ensure that the glass bottles do not undergo chemical reactions when containing contents of different natures, thereby protecting the quality and safety of the contents.

Through this series of all-round and high-standard finished product quality inspection processes, glass bottle manufacturers can effectively guarantee product quality and provide consumers with safe and reliable packaging containers.
